Last year, our team expanded into an official in-house research lab. By establishing a real-time and controlled analytical process for assessing the quality and composition of our stevia plants, this enables us to deliver consistent and premium products. Not only does this innovation ensure the high quality of our offerings, but it also grants our team the freedom to conduct extensive research and development endeavors, fostering continuous growth and improvement.
Refining with Precision: The Art of Adjustment
Our laboratory experts have optimized the steviol glycoside analytical extraction process through targeted experiments that scrutinized each step of the procedure, resulting in significant improvements in scalability and speed. This advancement saves us time and resources, reduces waste and our impact on the environment, and improves our analytical efficiency and sample throughput.
With our state-of-the-art equipment our team can quantitate steviol glycosides – the sweet compounds in stevia. Our high-performance liquid chromatography equipment coupled with a diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) is capable of separating the compounds from the complex stevia leaf mixtures and detecting their concentrations. Through several experiments, we developed new approaches to improve sensitivities of our analytical equipment, allowing us to more precisely quantitate even the subtlest steviol glycosides like Rebaudiosides D and M. With this newfound precision, we can uncover the full spectrum of compounds that impact flavor and ultimately enhance the quality of our stevia varieties.
What does that mean for our R&D platform? Our analytical lab provides consistent, high quality, high throughput data to our breeding program, allowing for the development of great tasting stevia varieties for our downstream partners.
On The Horizon
This laboratory opens up the opportunity for collaborations and projects that could benefit significantly from its innovative approach. Our team works with food and beverage companies to tailor stevia varieties to meet specific market demands. Along with partnering with research institutions and universities with the hopes of generating groundbreaking discoveries in plant genetics or biotechnology
We are proud of our team and our newly developed lab that serves as a catalyst for both internal advancements and external partnerships, leading to a brighter and more sustainable future for stevia plant breeding. We’re excited to unlock new possibilities for stevia production and further our mission to provide better and healthier plants for the world.
